Michael's Pizza of Long Beach: Among Best Pizza In The US!

Posted: Updated:

Did someone order Pizza? Michael's Pizzeria in Long Beach was just rated number one by Zagat.

It's "LA's Best Pizza" second year in a row.  It's also among the top Pizza Joints in the USA. It beat out New York, Chicago and Boston.  How is that possible?

Michael Dene, owner of Michael's Pizzeria says, "Our success is in the the dough, it's made with italian, double zero flour. The mozzarella and sauce are made in house each day. The herbs and seasonal veggies are grown by the chef or local farms."

In 2009, Dene went to the oldest pizza place in Naples. He had the most amazing pizza he ever tasted.  Dene came back home and decided  to open an authentic Neapolitan pizza.  He also hired a staff who knows all about the business.

Vito Iacopelli is one of the chefs. He's a 3rd generation pizza maker.  Iacopelli has been making pizzas since he was 8 years old.  Watching him toss and twirl the dough is quite a sight.  If you want to make it to Michael's Pizzeria, be prepared to wait. Sometimes the wait can be as long as an hour an half.  But if you go by the Zagat rating, it's worth the wait.
