Google Maps Aerial Image Shows Unsolved Murder

Posted: Updated:

A California man says that Google is forcing him to re-live the death of his teenaged son. If you search for a specific location, you can actually see a crime scene and the body of a 14-year-old boy. Furthermore, these pictures are actually staying on the website, at least for the rest of the week.

The vice president of Google Maps says he's aware of the problem, and his company is looking into taking those pictures down. Unfortunately, because of technology hurdles, they may not be able to replace these images until next week.

The father, Jose Barrera, contacted the FOX station out in San Francisco after he found out about these aerial pictures over the weekend. His son was shot and killed back in 2009.

For Barrera, seeing the pictures made him feel like it happened just yesterday.

A Google spokesperson says that these aerial images usually get updated about every one-to-three years.

There is a way to report concerns about "Street View" images, but right now, there's no way to report aerial shots like the one in question.

Google says it will take about eight days to update the pictures for that location. As for this teen's murder, it remains unsolved.
