PHILADELPHIA -

An event Saturday celebrated a successfully pairing of man and man's best friend.

Animalfair.com hosted a benefit at the Loews Hotel in Philadelphia to support K9s For Warriors! The program pairs veterans with shelter dogs who are at risk of being euthanized.

The 10 city tour raised over $220,000 and has saved 44 lives, 22 dogs and 22 veterans with PTSD.  The animals help servicemen dealing with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Scott Young, a retired Army sergeant, is a recipient and spoke of how his dog, Whiskey, helps him.

"If I start to have an anxiety attack or feel panicked, I focus on her, and I'm not focused on everything else around me," he said.

TV personality, and author of the new book, How To Train Your Boss To Rollover, Wendy Diamond, created this tour, called the Bark Business Tour. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, every 65 minutes, a veteran commits suicide. Diamond wanted to change that statistic.

"Our wounded Veterans have fought selflessly for our freedom, as a nation we must rise to the occasion, roll over, and fight for them now," remarked Diamond.

Diamond rallied her celebrity friends and gained support and donations from people like Glee's Jane Lynch and Craigslist's Founder Craig Newmark. Other celebrities included NBC's Chicago Fire's Taylor Kinney, David Eigenberg, and Joe Minosa, Halo, Purely for Pets, co-owned by Ellen DeGeneres(Ellen donated 4000 pounds of dog food to the K9s For Warriors service dogs), Los Angeles Lakers' Jeanie Buss and Phil Jackson, Musicians The Go-Gos, Fox's Raising Hope star Garret Dillahunt, Law and Order's Danny Pino, Supermodel Tyson Beckford, New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton and the most generous of business magnates, Ingram Industries' John Ingram.

"K9s for warriors is doing wonderful work and I'm more than happy to lend my support. My dog makes me a better person, she takes care of me as much as I take care of her and I love her so deeply. And I think people become better people when they have pets. I know how important my dog has been to me and I can't imagine life without an animal, and so that's why I support these causes," said Jane Lynch.

"It's a valuable cause. When you talk about what's happening around the country with soldiers coming back and sometimes not feeling support. To have an organization that actually is making a difference, I think people are really scratching their heads and trying to figure out how we can help as citizens and this is an organization that is actually taking steps to alleviate the problem. Alleviate the epidemic," said Law and Order's Danny Pino.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
