World Peace out, Stoudemire could get more minutes

Posted: Updated:

NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Knicks were without Metta World Peace on Saturday night against Atlanta, but might soon have more of Amare Stoudemire.

The Knicks have kept Stoudemire on a strict minutes limit after three knee surgeries in a year, and he was averaging about 10 per game in his five appearances. But he and coach Mike Woodson spoke Saturday, and the former All-Star was hoping his playing time could double.

Playing basically 5-minute stints, Stoudemire said it's been difficult to establish any rhythm and is "making me look as if my game is gone, or I don't have game anymore." He added that it's been hard for his teammates as well to develop a flow with him.

The Knicks said World Peace had a sore left knee and activated Chris Smith, who hasn't appeared in a game this season.
