Marisa Ramirez: It Was Kind Of An Easy Fit

Posted: Updated:

Marisa Ramirez is the new kid on the block on the hit CBS series "Blue Bloods"...but that excitement pales in comparison to how she felt Monday morning when she got to meet Steve for the first time.

"I just moved to New York and I turned the news on every morning and I turn it off because I get so frustrated because I can't watch you guys, seriously every morning...I grew up in LA, I'm serious, I'm really excited to be here!"

Marisa is now Donnie Wahlberg's new partner on :Blue Bloods"...she talked about how she was as surprised as everyone else when her bit part turned into a full time gig.

"I was supposed to be in New York for one episode for two weeks back in February and they kept asking me to stay, asking me to stay and now I live there, I moved there in July."

So what it was like joining a cast that had been together for three seasons?

"They were all very welcoming and we all just got along really well and it was easy, it was kind of an easy fit."

Steve asked her how long it will be before her character gets to sit at the family table...that's where a lot of the drama unfolds on the series.

"Maybe I'll knock on the door dropping off some donuts one day or something and then they'll feel bad for me that I'm all alone and say 'Come in , have dinner with us'".

Lisa jokingly asked if she would be keeping her clothes on, unlike her time on "Spartacus"...and Marisa didn't miss a beat with her answer.

"For now!"

Blue Bloods airs Fridays night at 10 on CBS.

Fun Facts About Marisa Ramirez:

1) Ramirez attended an all-girls school in Alhambra, California at the Ramona Convent Secondary School. Her career began at age 13 when she was brought to the attention of a major L.A. modelling agency, which led to an international modeling career. Upon her return home, she transitioned into hosting and acting.

2) She is known to TV audiences from starring roles on four prime time and two notable daytime series. Currently, she plays Detective Maria Baez on the fourth season of CBS's Blue Bloods and recurred as Officer Riley Dunn on ABC's Body of Proof. In 2011, she was a series regular on Lifetime's Against the Wall, playing Detective Lina Flores. Despite respectable ratings, the series was not renewed for a second season. Immediately prior to landing that role, Ramirez starred as Melitta on Starz's Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, which was filmed in New Zealand.

3) After several guest appearances on Days of our Lives and The Bold and the Beautiful, Ramirez finally got her big break in July 2000, when she was cast in the contract role of supermodel Gia Campbell on General Hospital. She left this role in December 2002 to star in the short-lived ABC drama, Miracles. During her time on GH, she was nominated for ALMA and NAACP Awards.

4) In April 2006, she joined the cast of The Young and the Restless as Jabot Cosmetics public relations consultant Carmen Mesta for five months. The character of Carmen was killed off. Ramirez briefly returned to the show in early 2007 as Carmen's cousin, Ines Vargas.

‘Blue Bloods' airs Fridays at ten on CBS.
