WINDER, Ga. -

Atlanta Falcons running back Jason Snelling will miss Sunday game in Tampa Bay after being arrested on charges of marijuana possession early Friday morning in Winder.

Coach Mike Smith made the announcement Saturday, saying he was "disappointed in what has transpired over the last 48 hours."

According to an arrest report obtained by FOX 5, Snelling was arrested around 3:35 a.m. after an officer noticed he wasn't keeping his SUV in its lane.  After he was pulled over, the officer reported a strong smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The report says Snelling admitted he had been smoking marijuana earlier in the evening. The officer noticed Snelling repeatedly swallowing while they talked, and when he asked him to open his mouth, the officer saw several green, leafy particles inside.

Snelling denied eating any marijuana, according to the police report.

Snelling did not take part in the team's final practice before facing the Buccaneers after being arrested early Friday morning. Smith says the player has "decided to take some personal time to deal with his situation."

Snelling is charged with possession of marijuana (less than one ounce), possession of drug-related materials, expired or no driver's license, failure to maintain lane, failure to maintain insurance, improper use of dealer license plate and no registration.

Snelling will rejoin the Falcons on Monday.
