Teen Writes Letter To Apple

Posted: Updated:

A Massachusetts teen takes up the torch for gay rights.

This is after she discovered her computer's dictionary had an unflattering definition of the word "gay."

15 -year -old Becca Gorman is writing to newspapers and asking the media to share her story.

It all started with an essay on gay rights for her history class. Becca typed the word "gay" into her MacBook dictionary. She said she was in disbelief when the words "foolish" and "stupid" appeared as possible definitions.

Becca's mothers are lesbians so it especially hurt her to see such demeaning words,so she wrote to apple's CEO who just happens to be openly gay.

A rep called her back within an hour.

"they said that apple streams its dictionary from four separate sources so they'd have to figure out how to get it removed, but they said they were also really surprised," Gorman said.

Becca says she won't back down until it's removed.

And while Becca believes in free speech she says she also believes in standing -up for what you believe in.
