DEARBORN, Mich. (WJBK) -

Police say a shooting Tuesday night inside a popular Dearborn restaurant that left a 42-year-old man injured was not a random act of violence. However, the gunman remains at large.

The shooting happened Tuesday evening inside the Benihana restaurant on Hubbard Drive on the campus of Fairlaine Town Center.

"It does not appear to be a random act of violence," said Dearborn Police Chief Ron Haddad. "It appears many witnesses knew both the victim and the shooter and I'm requesting that they come forward and cooperate."

Witnesses tell FOX 2 the dining room was filled with people at the time of the shooting, and families ran to the restrooms for cover. No other injuries were reported.

Haddad says the suspect and victim were dining together when they began to argue. Pushing and shoving ensued before the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the suspect in the stomach.

"He just stood up and was waiving the gun around, and he looked right at me, raised his eyebrows and just left," said Assante Barnes, who works at the restaurant.

"Our detectives are combing through all the facts, evaluating all the surveillance that we've gotten from the location and the adjoining location, and I'm very confident that will prove to be fruitful," said Haddad.

Haddad says the victim, whose name was not released, is expected to recover.
