DECATUR, Ga. -

A prayer vigil was held on Tuesday for the 10-year-old girl whose body was found in a trash bin outside a Lawrenceville apartment.

Authorities said that Emani Moss died of starvation. According to police, Emani's father, Eman Moss, and stepmother, Tiffany Moss, tried to get rid of her body by burning it. When that failed, police said they stuffed the body in a garbage can, which was discovered on Nov. 2.

Authorities have charged Eman and Tiffany Moss with murder and child cruelty in Emani's death. Investigators said that Emani suffered years of abuse before her death.

At the prayer vigil, which was held at Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church on Flat Shoals Parkway in Decatur, Emani's grandmother asked God for healing power and guidance in her darkest hour.

"I'm praying, and I'm asking God to give me that forgiveness deep inside because he's still my son. He's my only son," said Robin Moss.

Through song and prayer, those at the vigil issued a challenge to those touched by the senseless tragedy to make Emani's death a catalyst for change.

"After all this has gone, and after everything is over, there still must be intentional and purposeful dialogue to make sure this never happens again," said Pastor Calvin Roberson of Progression Church.

The funeral for Emani Moss will be held at noon on Wednesday at Levett Funeral Home's Gwinnett Chapel, which is located at 914 Scenic Highway in Lawrenceville.

If an iced coffee from Dunkin' Donuts is part of your afternoon routine, expect a nudge to buy a cookie or doughnut you didn't plan on. Dunkin' Brands CEO Nigel Travis said in a phone interview Thursday that the company is pushing to get its cashiers to "upsell" to afternoon customers. It's part of an effort to increase sales after stores have emptied out after the morning rush.
