2 Police Officers Hurt In North Philly Crash

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Two passengers were struck in a BMW by a 35th District Police Cruiser where Bellfield Avenue meets Louden Street. According to witnesses, the fault lies in the police officers, and not the young men.

The two males were shocked to find the police officers showing anger toward them. A cording to their story, the officers came out of nowhere.

One of the passengers, James, felt that his story was being questioned by one of the policeman, in a negative way.

"I felt pretty bullied at the time. I was not expecting that at all. All the other police have been very reasonable. This guy jumped into anger right away."

Many of the bystanders agreed with the two passengers that it did not appear to be their fault.

"Thought he was pulling the car over that was in front of him. I thought he was taking a call or something, but as soon as he turned his lights on, he hit." a witness said.

James explanation of the accident to one of the officers did not seem believable.

"They told me that I might not have noticed the lights, and I said we have witnesses, and they said, ‘Oh well the witnesses don't really like the police so they are probably lying'."

The officers and the BMW passengers suffered minor injuries.

Police Officials said they would fully investigate the crash. Depending on the cruiser model, it's possible that a black box can determine if the sirens went on relative to the time of impact.

Police Officials also say they plan on investigating the bullying allocations
