Up to 12 people in custody, possibly linked to immigrant kidnapping

PHOENIX -

Five people are in custody after authorities raided a suspected immigrant drop house in Phoenix.

Authorities say 12 people were found inside the home near 67th Avenue and Camelback Road when a search warrant was served early Friday.

Mesa police say they received a call about people possibly being held against their will and that led to the Phoenix drop house.

Police say four men and one woman have been arrested and two victims were being held against their will at the house.

The smugglers agreed to transport the victims into Arizona for a fee and then held the victims and demanded more money.

The victims' relatives contacted the police.

Authorities say six pounds of heroin, one pound of cocaine and two handguns were seized in the drop house search.

No names have been released in this case.
