Ralph Lauren Commits To US Manufacturing For Olympic Clothing

Posted: Updated:

The USA team in next year's Winter Olympics in Sochi will proudly wear clothing made here in the USA.

Ralph Lauren got criticized during last year's summer Olympics because a lot of the clothing was made overseas, especially in China.

For next year's Olympics, Ralph Lauren is using more than 40 vendors, including yarn spinners from Pennsylvania.

David Lauren, Ralph Lauren's youngest son, and the VP of Marketing, says that it was difficult to find places here in the US that could create the quality and quantity that they needed.

Therefore, there are fewer pieces for the 2014 collection.

Ralph Lauren Corp. has been making most of the athletes' clothes since 2008, when it took over from Canadian clothing company, Roots.

Other vendors like Northface have also committed to utilizing US manufacturing.
