SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -

Forget trying to flag down a bartender. A new bar trend lets you pour your own beer right at your table.

But before you get any ideas of sticking your head under the tap and letting the beer flow all night, you pay by the ounce and are only allowed to pour so many ounces at a time.

Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row opened in Scottsdale a few months ago and it's equipped with a trendy new technology.

"This is a wireless tap and it runs off a router that we have on the roof," says Ben Hargas, Riot Hospitality Group.

It's called a Table Top Tap. You can pour your own beer right at your table.

"Each person at the table has 32 ounces per Arizona state law. After that 32 ounces is gone, the server will come up here and will activate more."

"Yes we've had quite a few people try to stick their heads in there, they get a little out of control, the table tap should be cut off," says waitress Karen Borucki.

Being a whiskey bar, there's also a liquor tap.

Unlike the beer, the liquor is poured 3 ounces at a time.

"It's charging you by the ounce so you can see right here it's exactly one ounce."

At 25 cents an ounce for Coors Light, it's the same price as buying a 16 ounce beer from the bar. These bar patrons see the value.

"It could be very lucrative I think… if people don't have to wait for their orders as much it's natural [to drink more] -- it's not going to be a mass amount but they'll drink more per hour than any other way for sure," says one customer.

"With this it saves a lot of time and money as far as, you don't have to go up to the bar and not as much over pouring going on," says Hargas.

But more importantly, servers say it's convenient, for them and you.

"People get to pour their drinks all the time, don't have to wait on us. They're happy, we're happy," says Borucki.

The table tap also tracks consumption so they can later change out the beer to fit customers' taste.
