The 'Tweeting Bra' Seeks To Raise Breast Cancer Awareness

Posted: Updated:

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And in honor of that, "Nestle Fitness" has created something unique to aid in the fight.

It's the Tweeting Bra. Each time the clasp on the bra is unhooked, a tweet is automatically sent to the follower. Greek celebrity Maria Bacodimou currently wears the bra.

The bra's clasp is fitted with a sensor that contains a Bluetooth transmitter. When the clasp is unhooked and the connection is broken, it sends a signal to the user's mobile device.

The tweet sent out reminds women to do a self-breast exam and check for any signs or symptoms of the disease.

Nestle says that its mission is to deliver a lifesaving message to everyone.

The National Breast Cancer organization claims women should check their breasts for signs of cancer, including changes in color and unusual lumps, at least once a month. 40 percent of cancer cases start with a lump found during a self-examination and this is the first step towards diagnosing the disease through mammogram.
