Research: One Food Makes Everything Else Taste Better
Forget the salt, forget the pepper: everything tastes better with bacon! That's a finding from some new research.
The magazine "Wired" teamed up with the Food Network to do this study.
They analyzed 50,000 recipes and got feedback from more than 900,000 people. Volunteers rated each dish on a scale of one to five, with and without bacon. Researchers found that very few recipes tasted worse with bacon.
Sandwiches got the biggest boost, followed by different types of salads.
The least popular dishes to add bacon were creamy pasta dishes or desserts.
So what makes bacon so tasty? Scientists say it's actually a chemical reaction: acid and sugar breakdown to release smells and flavors that cause us to salivate.
