Fire destroys NJ church

PERTH AMBOY, N.J. (AP) - Parishioners are vowing to rebuild after fire destroyed a church in northern New Jersey that serves the Peruvian community.

Flames swept through Saints Cyril & Methodius National Catholic Church in Perth Amboy early Monday.

The church housed a replica of the Lord of Miracles, which is considered sacred in Peru.

The Rev. Mariusz Zochowksi tells The Home News Tribune it would be greatly appreciated if anyone has the desire to help rebuild the church.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
