MESA, Ariz. -

A corrections officer says he'll sit on the roof of a doughnut shop for three days to raise money for Special Olympics athletes.

Arizona Department of Corrections officer John Risch will sit on top of the Krispy Kreme near US 60 and Power Road from Friday morning until Sunday night.

In addition to being an officer, he's also a Special Olympics baseball coach.

"I go to the events and put medals around their necks when I'm in uniform," he said.  "I think it's a great cause."

He'll sit on top of the building for 60 hours wearing a pink tutu, a donut costume and a superhero outfit to raise money for his athletes.

Risch teamed up with Krispy Kreme to raise awareness.

"It shows a lot of dedication for his cause.  A lot of good hearted nature towards it, which is really inspiring.  Hopefully, it raises a lot of awareness and funds for what he is trying to do," said Karina Ridel, a shift manager at Krispy Kreme.

This is the sixth year for the "Cop on Top of a Doughnut Shop" fundraising campaign.  Risch says he's brought in about $10,000 for the Special Olympics.

"Look up their events.. you will have what they call an ah ha moment and you'll be hooked for life.  You'll love it," he said.

Risch will stay in on the roof through Sunday evening and he's hopeful his light hearted heckling grabs enough attention to make a huge difference for the Special Olympics.
