GOLDEN VALLEY, Ariz. (AP) - A Golden Valley man has been arrested after authorities say he sold the house he was renting in a Craigslist scam.

The Mohave County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday that John David Seiberling was being held on suspicion of fraudulent schemes and theft.

Spokeswoman Trish Carter says a 58-year-old woman contacted the Sheriff's Office on Oct. 14 when she and her husband couldn't enter the home with keys provided by Seiberling.

Authorities say the couple had given Seiberling a $3,000 cashier's check as down payment. The couple then contacted a name that appeared on the lease, which turned out to be the homeowner.

The owner says Seiberling did not have her permission to sell the home.

Investigators located Seiberling on Sunday and arrested him.

He is being held on $5,000 bond.
