CHINO HILLS (AP/KTTV) - Feral or stray cows are proving to be a difficult problem to solve at Inland Empire's sprawling Chino Hills State Park.

The 14,000-acre park at the intersection of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties is in a region with a long history of cattle grazing.

Experienced hiker Frank Turcaz tells the San Gabriel Valley Tribune he came upon a bull and 20 cows on a trail a few months ago and none of the methods he normally uses to scare away wild predators worked on the herd.

Supervising ranger Kelly Elliott tells the newspaper she's aware of the potential for dangerous interaction between cattle and park visitors and is doing everything she can. But hiring cowboys to round up the cows has had limited success.
