Study: First Borns Smarter

Posted: Updated:

If you're the first born child, you have something to hold over your brother and sisters' heads. According to a new study, you're likely to be the smartest!

And it's all because parents are apparently stricter on first born children when it comes to school.

The study was conducted by the National Bureau For Economic Research.

It found that most parents pay more attention, and even punish first borns for having bad grades.

Researchers also say that their tests confirmed most first-borns had the highest IQs.

Parents were also more lax with the rules for the younger kids. Therefore, instead of dedicating more time to homework, the younger kids were allowed to watch tv or play video games, more often than the first child.

33.8% of mothers surveyed also claim that their first born was one of best in their class, whereas only 1.8% of mothers put their first born at the bottom. 31.8% said that their second born child was best in class, 29% said their third born son was best in class, and only 27.2 percent said that their fourth born son was best in class.
