Job program for homeless vets coming to central Ill.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Associated Press) -

A program that helps homeless veterans in Tennessee find jobs and a place to live is expanding to central Illinois.

The Pantagraph in Bloomington reports that the program called Building Lives will partner with the Bloomington-based information and referral agency called Providing Access to Help, or PATH, to provide services beginning in January.

Money for the program will come from the annual Christmas Gift Sale that will be held in early December at The Interstate Center in Bloomington.

The Building Lives program was started in 2007 by Tim Gregarth after he learned there were tens of thousands of homeless veterans around the United States. Since then, the program has helped about 500 veterans with things like employment, housing, transportation and health and psychological care referrals.
