Los Angeles, CA -

(FOX 11 / AP) Police say a man was shot and killed during an apparent robbery after he responded to a Craigslist ad.

City News Service reported Sunday that 41-year-old Rene Balduena was killed in front of his 15-year-old son after they responded to an ad in South Los Angeles Saturday night.

Sgt. Rudy Alaniz says the pair was approached by two people believed to have made the online post in what appears to have been an attempted robbery.

Alaniz says Balduena was shot three times in the chest and taken to the hospital, where he died. His son was being treated for a graze wound.

It does not appear the suspects obtained any money from the victims.
