CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

One of the scariest haunted houses in Illinois is The Odeum Asylum XPeriment in Villa Park. Interestingly enough, one of the actors is a mother of three who survived cancer.

As a cancer survivor, Alexandra Gamble cherishes every holiday. But Halloween is extra special for this actress.

Every night during the Halloween season, the 33-year-old mom transforms into Myrtle Mabel Mavis - a ghostly maid who keeps the haunted house clean for visitors.

The transformation has been like therapy for the budding actress. She never imagined playing this part, until her role as a mother almost ended. She was diagnosed with cervical cancer while pregnant with her last child, and she almost died.

Several surgeries later, her dreams of having an even bigger family ended. But she didn't waste a second chance at life. Instead, she took on her first acting job in of all places - a haunted house.

Of course, her biggest fans are her children. Little did Alexandra know, she just might inspire others to do the same!
