U.S. House stenographer goes on tirade

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - The official stenographer for the U.S. House of Representatives had to be removed from the House chamber during the vote to reopen the government on Wednesday.

Diane Reidy, described by lawmakers as a "very nice, normal woman," took to the microphone to talk about the House being divided and the devil.

“This is not one nation under God it never was. Had it been it would not have been," said Reidy as she was dragged away.

"They were very gentle in taking her out because they know her.  It was very shattering really. She lost it … she went absolutely berserk. It’s a very sad story," said Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y.

Reidy reportedly from Long Island underwent a mental health evaluation after the incident.
