"America's favorite cookie" -- the Oreo -- is just as addictive as cocaine, according to a recent study conducted by Connecticut College students and their neuroscience professor.

They say the study was designed to shed light on the potential addictive-ness of high-fat and high-sugar foods.

To prove their theory, researchers put Oreos on one side of a maze and rice cakes on the other side.

As you might imagine, when the rats were placed in the maze they repeatedly returned to the Oreo side of the maze.

Apparently digging right into the creamy middle portion of the cookie -- just like humans!

Turns out the results mirrored those of a similar test conducted using addictive substances.

On one side of the maze rats were given an injection of substances such as cocaine or morphine and a shot of saline on the other side.

The majority would return to the cocaine side of the maze when given the opportunity.

The researchers say their results support the theory that high-fat and high-sugar foods stimulate the brain in the same way drugs do.

It may explain why some people can't resist these foods, despite the fact they know they're bad for them.

Out of over 500 hopefuls only a handful will join the Brooklyn Nets Kids Dance Team. The Nets held auditions this week at LIU Brooklyn. Adorable Bronx native Arielle was turned away last year but this time around she's made it through to the final round of the auditions. But even those who were on the team last year still have to try out.
