Spa Pechanga: Free Cuts To Anyone Donating Hair

Posted: Updated:

Three women stop by Good Day LA to donate their hair to the American Cancer Society. They won't be walking around with chopped off hair for long because Spa Pechanga will give them free hair cuts and styling.

For the month of October, Spa Pechanga at the Pechanga Resort and Casino is giving away free hair cuts and styling to anyone who donates their hair.

They have a few rules, but basically, your hair needs to be at least eight inches long, not chemically processed, and not graying.

Here are some facts from the folks at Pechanga:

October is breast cancer awareness month. Statistics show about 1 in 8 women suffer from some form of the disease. Best way to avoid it and catch it early is by regular screenings. For women currently fighting breast cancer and other cancers, the loss of hair from chemotherapy and medications can be devastating.

To raise awareness for the continuing need for people with long, healthy hair to donate it, one Spa here in Southern California is offering free haircuts and styles to anyone - men or women - who want to cut their hair 8 inches or more.

Spa Pechanga runs the hair donation campaign throughout the month of October.

All hair collected will be donated, turned into wigs and then distributed free to female cancer patients through the national network of American Cancer Society Wig Banks

This takes place because nearly everyone knows someone or a family who has been affected by breast cancer.

Hair grows back. Spa Pechanga sought out a way to help someone else going through the fight of her life is a small but meaningful gesture.

Plus, for fall and winter, there are so many new elegant new cuts and hairstyles that deserve to be shown off. Popular ones now include shorter, angled cuts, swept bangs instead of straight across, some medium lengths but shorter layers. Reese Witherspoon, Charlize Theron and Rhiana are examples of celebs who've successfully worn shorter hair.

Often, very long hair can weigh a person's face and appearance down and getting a flattering new haircut and style can be a makeover in itself.
