CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

If you've recently renewed a magazine subscription, you may want to take a second look at your statement. Better Business Bureau's Steve Bernas shares how you can avoid a new magazine scam.

Bernas said northern Illinois consumers are receiving multiple renewal forms and paying scammers for magazines that they will never receive.

The tip off to the rip off? A renewal offer so low, it's hard to believe.

Here's how you can avoid this magazine scam:

  • Check for a renewal notice in last issue.
  • Compare addresses on your subscription forms.
  • Check the mailing label on your magazine for a renewal date.
  • If you're uncertain, contact your magazine publisher.

If you find that you've fallen victim to this scam, contact the Better Business Bureau to report the publisher's name so that other consumers can be made aware.
