Detroit ministers endorse Mike Duggan for mayor

DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) -

With the election for Detroit's next mayor less than one month away now, candidate Mike Duggan adds another group of endorsers to his list.

Friday dozens of Detroit ministers collectively announced their support for Duggan as the next mayor. More than thirty ministers were there to make the announcement.

The announcement was make at the Little Rock Baptist Church on Woodward Avenue.

Other endorsements Duggan has received have come from several major unions, the Detroit Retired City Employee Association, primary candidate Lisa Howze and the Metro Times.

The election is November 5th.

The three men were struck at Orchard Beach in the Bronx Sunday afternoon and were being treated at a local hospital. Meanwhile, various Labor Day weekend celebrations were interrupted, delayed and even canceled as the U.S. Open tennis tournament had to be postponed and the Electric Zoo musical festival on Randall's Island had to be prematurely shut down.
