McDonald's Will Distribute Books In Happy Meals

Posted: Updated:

Not sure how "happy" this will make kids. McDonald's is bumping their iconic happy meal toys and replacing them with books next month.

According to a report from the marketing magazine, "Ad Age," the fast food chain will offer four original children's books, addressing the importance of good nutrition.

One book will be about a goat that learns to eat well after being an overeater. Another book will be about a dinosaur who grew tall by eating healthy.

The chain says that it expects to distribute 20 million books in the promotion that will last from November 1st to November 14th. This distribution will beat the number of "Hunger Games" books sold last year in print.

A spokesperson for the fast food chain says that they plan to do promotions like this for years to come. McDonald's has also committed to partnering with The Alliance for a Healthier Generation to leverage it's menu and marketing power to help kids made better food and beverage choices.
