Mattresses Donated To Firefighters During Fire Prevention Week

Posted: Updated:
West Hollywood, CA -

(FOX 11) Sit 'n Sleep is donating mattresses to firefighters all over LA County, and the firefighters are thanking all the sit 'n sleep voluteers with a home-cooked meal at the firehouse. They really need new mattresses--some of which haven't been replaced in more than 13 years!

Sit 'n Sleep partnered with Tempur-Pedic to honor Southern California's brave firefighters during Fire Prevention Week, October 7-11.

During this week, we will be donating 140 new mattresses to Fire Stations all around SoCal (West Hollywood, Ontario, Costa Mesa, Rancho Mirage and Montecito.)  Mattresses are often the last thing that gets replaced at Fire Stations, due to the expense. However, a good night's sleep is vital for our courageous public servants so they can continue to do their job safely. Some fire Stations haven't replaced their mattresses in over 20 years.

On Wednesday, October 9 we will be delivering 29 new mattresses to the West Hollywood Fire Department. Mattresses are the last things that are replaced and many of them are over 13 years old at this station.

Sutter Zachman had his first record deal when he was barely out of his teens. You may have seen the Orange County native was on stage at the Largo and other hot clubs around LA. He then left town...after what he called a few "bouts" with the music business, but now he is back with a new EP called ‘Repeat Offender.'

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.
