Domestic Violence Awareness Month: Breaking the silence

Domestic violence is a secret in households across the country, and sometimes it can have deadly consequences.  A local organization is working to help Georgians break the silence. 

Looking back at photos, Angeletha Mintah says her family looked normal and happy, but their smiles held a dark secret.  She shared the story of how she and her children were victims of domestic violence with FOX 5.

An estimated one in four women are victims of domestic violence, and Georgia ranks 10th in the nation in the number of women killed by men as a result.

In celebration of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Angel of God Outreach will be hosting a free program, entitled "Break Chains by Renewing the Mind." It will include reenactments, inspirational songs & dance, poetry, more.

The event is free. The program is for mature teens and adults. It will be held on Saturday, October 12th at the Decatur Library located at 215 Sycamore St Decatur,GA 30030. Meet & Greet will begin at 10am. The program will begin at 11am.
