Minnesota Boy Runs Away From Home, Gets On Plane For Vegas

Posted:

It seems that a Minnesota nine-year-old wanted to test his luck in Las Vegas. And all it took was a little smooth-talking through airport security to get on a plane without a ticket.

Sources say that the boy took a train to the airport and then got past TSA by blending in with a family that was traveling with several children.

Before he got past TSA, he managed to get some free lunch for himself too. According to Las Vegas Police, the boy took a random piece of luggage from a carousel and walked around into a restaurant like he was a regular. He then ordered food, ate it and left without paying.

At the boarding zone, airport authorities say that surveillance video shows the boy talking to a Delta gate agent.

When that agent became busy, they boy quickly walked down the jetway and onto the plane!

Flight attendants got suspicious once the plane was in the air, and called Vegas police.

The boy was taken into protective custody and flown home. His family told Minneapolis police that the boy had run away.

Delta says it is investigating, both why the boy was able to get past security, and why the boy was trying to go to Las Vegas. There is no information yet on whether the child has been reunited with his family.

In 2013, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo created a state panel to investigate public corruption, called the Moreland Commission. But the governor is accused of interfering with investigations and compromising the commission's work. Republican Astorino, who is running against Cuomo, claimed Cuomo didn't hand over evidence to State Police. Astorino wants a special prosecutor to find out if any state and federal laws were broken.

Archeologists say they've solved a mystery that started with the rebuilding at ground zero. During the excavation at the World Trade Center Site, workers uncovered part of an old ship. No one knew where it came from. Now after years of study, researchers believe the sloop dates back to 1773, built from wood harvested from Pennsylvania, the same kind used to build Independence Hall.
