Detroit apartment building without running water for days

DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) -

Residents of one Detroit apartment building say their landlord is leaving them high and dry. People who live in the Quincy Apartments say they've had no running water for days and nothing's being done.

It's like living in a third world country. People are living without running water and they say it's taking a toll. One resident was so embarrassed by the conditions she wouldn't let us into her apartment. They say the problem started Wednesday morning when they discovered the water had been shut off.

"I had to get  ready for work and I noticed there was no water," said Kim Stewart.

Turns out an $1,800.00 water bill wasn't settled when the building was sold in July. Months went by, the late fees piled up and Detroit turned off the water this week. The new owner, based in France, told us they will pay the water bill on Monday. We're told the tenants should have running water next week. Until then it's hard living for the least among us, a raw deal for Detroiters who deserve better.
