Posted: Updated:
Roxbury, New Jersey (My9NJ) -

It looks like smell isn’t the only thing rising up at the Fenimore Landfill.

Roxbury, New Jersey residents held another rally to protest the potent smell outside a benefit that Lieutenant Governor, Kim Guadagno held at the Bells Mansion in Morris Township, NJ. It didn’t take long however before the protestors were soon kicked off the property.

As of October 2nd, it has been reported by the residents that the levels of hydrogen sulfide gas in Fenimore Landfill has sky-rocketed. The levels of the toxic fumes have reached 930 parts per billion.

Health concerns and symptoms caused by this landfill continue to worsen. Residents are experiencing constant bloody noses, having asthma attacks, and suffering anxiety attacks.

There have also been multiple tweets sent out from Roxbury residents calling out for help.

An update from Jennifer S tweeted “H2S from Fenimore is out of control!! Feeling horribly sick. Packing up AGAIN for a long weekend. Need to get my kids out of here.”

Bob Shultz of @REACTNJ, passed the information on to the Lt. Governor and slipped a packet of information about the landfill, how it could be trucked out, and a petition signed by 2500 residents to truck out the material.

Last night, @REACTNJ tweeted directly to Governor Christie, “Worst Fenimore night in months. 930ppb max. 300ppb hour avg. 3 evacs. again. People petrified. ”

Maureen Castriotta tweeted “@GovChristie Can you please find it in ur heart to visit Roxbury & comfort those suffering terribly from Fenimore Landfill?”

The only time Governor Christie has acknowledge Fenimore was on NJ 101.5 and has claimed to have been involved with fixing the problem with the landfill but residents have not directly had any contact with him nor have they heard from him.

Governor Christie was there right away for the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, but has been an absentee governor for the Fenimore Landfill residents. Residents continue to cry for help in hopes that he and the Lt. Gov. will take care of this situation.
