No pumpkin in pumpkin spice

Posted: Updated:

It seems as soon as the first leaf turns color the pumpkin craze begins. The folks at official comedy even created a movie about it -- a parody of how pumpkins seem to have infiltrated everything.

There's pumpkin spice butter, pumpkin spice Hershey's kisses, pumpkin spice M&M's, pumpkin pie pop tarts, and the perennial favorite Starbuck's pumpkin spice latte.

However most people we spoke to had no idea that there's no pumpkin in pumpkin spice.

Pumpkin itself is good for you -- it can boost your immune system and help you lose weight.

But no worries. Pumpkin spices are also healthy. And can they get guys in the mood? They loaded with antioxidants and can be an aphrodisiac, particularly for men.

OK, so pumpkin spice has no pumpkin. But something tells me the love of all pumpkin is here to stay.

There is one product that does have pumpkin: pumpkin pie. Thanksgiving is just around the corner.

One of the most surprising findings in a report from the New York City public advocate is that city officials have virtually no authority over how nail salons are run. The city can't enforce standards like they do with restaurants, so it's clearly a case of beauty buyer beware. We get our nails done without thinking too much about it.
