Enrollment in ObamaCare begins with a few hiccups

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX -

It's day one of the Affordable Health Care Act. A lot of people are going on this site, healthcare.gov, to get information about the program. There was so much traffic Tuesday, it was hard to sign up.

But some people signed up in person -- the kinds of people the Affordable Care Act is supposed to help.

Henry Sargent doesn't have insurance. He dropped by the Greater Phoenix Urban League today to apply for ObamaCare. Henry's 58 years old, a diabetic, and he used to work in a warehouse, but doesn't have a job now.

"Well I am trying to get on the medical plan to get some medical assistance. We need help and this is a way to help so I think it would be good," says Sargent.

David Aguirre works at the Urban League, helping people sign up.

"That is one thing people should not worry about -- I cannot afford it. This is set up so that if you cannot afford it the government will give you a subsidy to pay for it," says Aguirre.

Face-to-face it may be easy to sign up. But not online today. People here saw the same website delay notice that showed up all over the country.

We waited for 45 minutes to get on.

That's something healthcare.gov is going to have to fix.

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.
