Avicii is one of the bright stars of the young EDM movement, but one listen to his new album True reveals that the Swedish DJ/producer has both a multitude of influences and the ability to reach out beyond what he's been known for over the past few years.

In honor of the release of True, the man born Tim Bergling is sharing an exclusive playlist with Rdio listeners called Avicii's Favorite Songs of the Moment.  Featuring artists like Jay-Z and Disclosure, as well as tracks from Avicii himself, the playlist is easily embeddable with the Rdio player:

Avicii Electrifies Dance Charts with Debut Album 'True'

Avicii attacks Billboard's Dance/Electronic Songs chart with six new entries from his new No. 1 on Dance/Electronic Albums, "True," ranging from "Hey Brother" at No. 15 to "Heart Upon My Sleeve" at No. 49. Only Daft Punk has debuted more songs in a week (12, June 8).

Meanwhile, Avicii ranks at No. 1 on Dance/Electronic Songs for a third consecutive week with "Wake Me Up!," which leads Dance/Electronic Digital Songs (189,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan) for a fifth week, Dance/Mix Show Airplay for a third and takes over atop Dance Streaming Songs (4.9 million U.S. streams, up 12%, according to Nielsen BDS).

"Wake Me Up!" was already No. 1 on Dance Club Songs for two weeks, one of only two songs this year to hold at the top; Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" is the other. Avicii's breakthrough mainstream success continues on Radio Songs (No. 7, 101 million audience impressions, up 15%, according to BDS) and on the Billboard Hot 100 (5-4).

We caught up with Avicii for an Exclusive FOX 11 DJ Behind The Scenes At the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium last October.  Watch Video Above.

    Newark school enrollment problems

    Friday, August 22 2014 5:17 PM EDT2014-08-22 21:17:11 GMT
The school year in Newark is getting off to a rocky start. Classes start in less than two weeks and parents are still waiting in line for hours to find out where their kids are enrolled. The problem is being blamed on a glitch in the school's new online open enrollment system. To say mother of three Jennifer Caraballo is frustrated may be an understatement. She is one of hundreds of Newark parents desperately now trying to find a new school for her children.

Heading into the U.S. Open, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray have won 36 of the past 38 Grand Slam titles, a stretch dating to the 2005 French Open. Nowadays, there seems to be a growing sense — or hope, maybe — among the best of the rest on the men's tennis tour that the quartet might be more vulnerable than ever.

John Lennon's killer was denied release from prison in his eighth appearance before a parole board, New York corrections officials said Friday. The decision on Mark David Chapman by a three-member board came after a hearing Wednesday, the state Department of Corrections said. Chapman fired five shots on Dec. 8, 1980, outside the Dakota apartment house where Lennon lived on Manhattan's Upper West Side, hitting the ex-Beatle four times.
