Woman Stabbed To Death, Stepfather Suspected

Hawthorne, CA -

(FOX 11 / CNS) An investigation was under way today into the stabbing death of a 22-year-old woman in the apartment she shared with her mother in Hawthorne.

The death in the 4800 block of West 118th Street was reported just before 7:30 p.m. Thursday, said Deputy Aura Sierra-Lidman of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

Naquia Catching of Hawthorne died at the scene, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

Investigators said the victim's mother called Hawthorne police to report that she found her daughter injured and unresponsive when she returned home, said Deputy Don Walker of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

"Hawthorne Police Department personnel and paramedics responded to the location and determined that the victim had been stabbed,'' Walker said.
