NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The New Haven line of Metro-North railroad continues to operate on a "very reduced schedule," the eighth straight day of commuter rail delays.

Nearly a week after a circuit failed in Mount Vernon, NY, the commuter rail line said the New Haven line has gotten a power boost from Con Edison's temporary substation in Harrison, N.Y.

Metro North says trains will be operating at about 65 percent capacity beginning Wednesday. That's up from 50 percent since the disruption began.

The line could be suspended between Stamford, Conn. and Grand Central Terminal for a few weeks while Con Edison works to fix a feeder cable that provides electricity to the overhead lines.

However, Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy said service could be restored sooner; the electric feeder cable could be fixed by Oct. 7. After testing, service is expected to resume Oct. 7 or Oct. 8, earlier than the initial Oct. 14 prediction, he said, the AP reported.

Temporary transformers are in place to allow electric trains to operate from New Haven to New York City.

Regional park and ride areas are set up for access to the Harlem Line.

The MTA said commuters should expect very crowded trains and buses until further notice.

Amtrak trains in areas served by Metro-North are also being delayed due to the circuit failure.

"Get on Up" is in theaters now. The film chronicles the career of James Brown, who had a special connection to Harlem and New York. Billy Mitchell is the in-house historian at the historic Apollo Theater. He says the Apollo was a second home to Brown, as it was here where he became an international superstar who appealed to all. But Brown's NYC legacy stretches even further.
