FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) - A San Tan Valley man is dead after shooting at Pinal County Sheriff's deputies and then fatally shooting himself in the head.

Sheriff's officials say 34-year-old Arciano Corona had arrest warrants for probation violations.

The sheriff's office received a frantic 911 call from Corona's wife about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Despite having an order of protection against Corona, she says he had burst through the front door of her San Tan Valley home, threatened her with a gun and was breaking windows.

Corona reportedly fired a shotgun at a responding deputy, got into his truck and then had a running gun battle with authorities.

Deputies say Corona then drove into a desert area and stopped his vehicle. They say he was pronounced dead at the scene with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
