WHEATON, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A southwest suburban woman was charged with drug-induced homicide Tuesday for providing the heroin that killed a Wheaton woman, prosecutors said.

Jennifer Nere, 33, of the 7400 block of 64th Street in Summit, was charged with one count each of drug-induced homicide and delivery of a controlled substance, according to a statement from the DuPage County State's Attorney's office. Judge Elizabeth Sexton ordered Nere held on a $300,000 bond.

She is accused of giving her friend, 32-year-oldAugustina Taylor, the heroin that killed her.

Nere went to Taylor's home in Wheatong late June 27 to deliver heroin, according to prosecutors. Taylor took the heroin and her son later found her dead on the bathroom floor from an apparent overdose.

A Wheaton police investigation led to Nere, who had been held in the Cook County Jail since Aug. 24 on an unrelated charge.

Nere will be back in court Oct. 1 in Wheaton.
