Ashly Williams: A Big Connection With My Heart

Posted: Updated:

One of the contestants knocking ‘em dead on "The X Factor" is Ashly Williams. She's 24, from right here in Los Angeles and boy can she sing.

Simon Cowell said she's the reason he brought "The X Factor" to America.  To find an amazing talent and make her a star.

"She" is Ashly Williams, 24-year-old singer from Los Angeles who absolutely nailed Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" on "The X Factor" last week.

Ashly's performance was a heartfelt tribute to her mother, who was killed when Ashly was a young girl.  She chose that song to sing last week because it played at her mother's funeral.  And thousands of viewers felt her emotion so strongly that they wasted no time contacting Ashly.

"That was the moment I was waiting for, the moment to tell my story,"  Ashley told Maria Sansone and Araksya Karapetyan on Good Day L.A.  The tweets I've been getting and the Instagrams, it's just amazing."

‘The X Factor' airs Wednesday and Thursday night at 8:00pm on FOX.
