61 Dogs Rescued From Euthanization

Posted: Updated:

More than five dozen dogs scheduled to be put to sleep on Friday were rescued and taken to New Jersey.

61 dogs were picked up from a shelter in West Virginia that planned to euthanize all of them, including the puppies.

They arrived in Riverdale, NJ on Sunday night. Many of them were picked up by foster families.

An organization called Purrs and Pups organized the rescue. They are a nonprofit dedicated to helping stray, unwanted and abandoned pets find permanent homes.

"I started the organization because there is a the lot of dogs in shelters being euthanized every day and we wanted to see more lives be saved. So we started forming a network of foster homes to foster them and pull them out of the shelters and give them another chance at life," says Jennifer Adams, the founder.

If you'd like to foster or adopt one of these dogs, go to the home myfoxphilly page. Look under the home tab at the top of the page and click on "seen on TV."
