Woman survives raping, stabbing and shooting, attacker on the loose

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) -

A 28-year-old woman says she was sexually assaulted twice, stabbed in the neck, shot in the leg and almost set on fire.

It all started when the victim was walking home around 3 a.m. and cut through an alley on Mack Ave. near Drexel St. A man approached her and said he needed help unlocking his phone. The woman agreed to help and that's when the man reportedly pulled a gun on her.

The victim's mother told her daughter's story to Fox 2's Taryn Asher. Click on the video player above to hear her story.

The victim's mother says the attacker tortured her daughter for two hours by sexually assaulting her twice, cutting her throat, then attempting to set her on fire. The victim was unconscious and says she woke up when gasoline was being poured on her. As she tried to escape she was shot in the thigh.

Miraculously, the victim was able to successfully escape and, despite her wounded leg, run to her house which wasn't too far away. She is in the hospital recovering right now.

The victim says her attacker told her he was from the west side and that he's "done this before." Two prostitutes, discovered a day apart from each other, were sexually assaulted, set on fire and left for dead on Detroit's west side back in July of 2013.

This, along with the alleged verbal confession, lead authorities to believe the same attacker may be behind these three incidents. Detroit Police are working to get a detailed description of the suspect.
