Rockettes add hi-tech kick for Atlanta holiday shows

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

When Joanna Richardson saw the New York City Rockettes for the first time, she says it changed her life forever.

"Before the first number was over, I knew I wanted to be on that stage," she told Good Day Atlanta's Karen Graham. "Here I am eight years later and it's absolutely wonderful."

The metro Atlanta native is now part of a long and storied American holiday tradition. And, not much has changed in nearly 90 years. The costumes are still spectacular, the women are beautiful and those kicks – forever eye-high.

But, audiences will see one noticeable change this holiday season.

"We're really excited to bring this show to Atlanta because the technology is unlike anything we've ever brought to the Atlanta area."

The 21st century Rockette is also stronger and more athletic than her predecessor. You'd have to be with six-hour rehearsals, six days a week.
