ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WJBK) -

Police in Roseville say a 35-year-old man severely beat his 77-year-old mother after she wouldn't let him use her vehicle.

Thomas Joseph Gulas was arrested shortly after the attack Wednesday in the parking lot of the Super Eight Motel on Little Mack Ave.

Police say the woman may have suffered a brain hemorrhage and was in critical condition at a hospital.

Gulas is being held on $150,000 bail. He pleaded not guilty to all charges, including assault.

Police responded after several calls that a man was beating an elderly woman in the parking lot. Police say he had called her to come to the motel and damaged six other vehicles before fleeing.
