Reward increased in case of dog found stabbed, skinned in Detroit

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) -

Several organizations are teaming up to offer a $8,500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of those responsible for stabbing and skinning a dog on Detroit's southwest side.

The female fox terrier, now know as Patty, was found late Thursday afternoon with a large patch of fur skinned from her neck and a stab wound to her side.

Providing for Paws, a local animal rescue group, was called to retrieve her and are now providing medical care in the hopes that she can make a full recovery.

"Her skin was hanging off the side her body and was clean cut from the back of her neck to her ears. This was not an accident. The cuts are perfect and deliberate," said Joanne Dixon, a rep from Providing for Paws. "Someone owned and loved this dog. Her nails are painted."

The Michigan Humane Society (MHS) Cruelty Investigation Department, The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and Providing for Paws teamed up to offer the reward.

Anyone with information can contact the MHS Hotline at (313) 872-3401.
