Elderly Woman Reunites with Lost Dog

Cherry Hill, NJ -

An 86-year-old NJ woman is reunited with her 19-year-old lost dog after the search stretches into Philadelphia

Carol Heir brought her dog Ralphie along for a visit to her son Doug Heir's home in Cherry Hill, NJ on Friday.

Carol and her son decided to leave Ralphie at home for a few hours while they went shopping.

When Carol returned to the residence around 5:00pm, she discovered her beloved companion was gone.

Fearing for 19-year-old Ralphie's life, the police and animal control were immediately called, and the search began for the 10 pound dog, mixed with Japanese chin and bejon.

Carol and her family thought all hope was lost until the end of the night, when they received a call from Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center (VSEC) in Philadelphia.

Amazingly, 12 miles away in a different state divided by the Ben Franklin Bridge, VSEC told Carol they believed they found Ralphie.

Carol's son Doug drove to straight Philadelphia to find out if Ralphie had been located.

Ralphie was immediately reunited with Carol's son as soon as he arrived, and Carol was quickly called with the good news.

It turns out Ralphie was found by a stranger about a half mile from Doug's home, they driven to the hospital in Philadelphia to be evaluated.

The hospital was able to reunite Carol and her dog thanks in part to a microchip that she had implanted 10 years earlier.

Ralphie was returned to his owner Carol with help from good Samaritan in New Jersey and a caring veterinarian hospital in Philadelphia.

To say the 6 feet 5 inch Baloji has a presence would be an understatement. The Belgian artist commands the stage with his mix of hip hop, funk, and rap. The 34-year-old rocked out Webster Hall back in January. Now he's back in New York City kicking off a month-long tour. "It's one of the most inspiring cities on Earth so it's always great to be here," Baloji says.

New York has never known a Central Park without that rhythmic click-clacking. But if Mayor Bill de Blasio gets his way, he'll put those hooves out to pasture, replacing them with a different noise-maker. Actually, excluding its horn the electric carriage makes little noise at all. It runs on lithium-ion batteries, has a variable-speed a/c motor, and is relatively silent, says Jason Wenig.
