Thief Steals 150 Lb Watermelon

Posted: Updated:

A man's most prized possession is stolen.

Bradley Northcote has won numerous awards for his giant melons. But the Maryland man says that he woke up to find his 150 pound watermelon gone.

He says he has no idea how someone managed to pick it up and get it out of his yard.

"For somebody to just pick up a 150 pound watermelon and walk 80 yards off the property, it's gotta be pretty strong," he says.

Northcote even had plans for that watermelon. He was going to send the seeds to a third world country, to help start a watermelon farm.

"We were gonna use the seed to send to another country to help some people in a third world country get up a watermelon farm. [The theft] kinda put a damper on that," he says.

Still, he says he has no real hard feelings.

"Other than getting a big dog in my yard, whoever would steal a piece of fruit, enjoy it. Just enjoy it, you know what I mean?" Northcote says.
