6-Year Old Shot And Killed : How Can You Explain It?

Posted: Updated:
Moreno Valley, CA -

How can you explain someone opening fire into a crowded party filled with families, kids and innocents?

Even if some twisted gang banger has some theoretical vendetta against another of his ilk , you still open fire into a crowd knowing you could hit or kill little kids ? Exactly. That's what happened Saturday night at 9:30pm in Moreno Valley, out past Riverside, at a party for a family celebrating one of them heading off to college. Little six-year-old Tiana Ricks, a distant cousin, a piano playing cutie, was the victim of apparent gang gunfire.

Who was the supposed target? We don't know.. maybe her 26-year-old father, who was wounded but will survive. Cops haven't said so far...  So now we have another of those make shift shrines on the street with photos and candles and balloons, while detectives search for the suspects. This in supposedly ‘‘safe ‘' Moreno Valley, where, tragically and ironically, the family that owned the house had moved to specifically to escape the dangers of Compton. Or so they said.

This week it was Moreno Valley, last week it was Palmdale, where another little girl, this time a seven-year-old named Desirae Macias was in the back seat of a car on the freeway when some bad dudes who'd gotten into an argument with someone in her family opened fire on the car, hitting her in the head... she's been on life support and is brain dead.. according to the doctors.  There have been too many of these cases over the years.   ‘'How can you explain this?" people keep asking.. ‘‘How is this possible ?"

The short answer is there are young men (mostly men, some women) with no hearts -no conscious -no sense of right and wrong -no morals- and usually no families. Their gang is their family, and they have access to guns and drugs.   I've interviewed them.  Their attitude is this;  "No one gives a s--t about me, so why should I give a s--t about anyone else ? " That's it.  Nothing complicated.  So, the Tianas and the Desiraes pay the price ???  Apparently.  And it goes on.

(FOX 11 / AP)-- Authorities say a 6-year-old girl is dead and her 26-year-old father is injured after they were shot at a family party in Riverside County.

The Sheriff's Department said investigators on Sunday had identified no motive or suspects in the shootings.

Sheriff's and coroner's officials say 6-year-old Tiana Ricks of Victorville and her father Tyrell Ricks Jr. were shot late Saturday night at their home in Moreno Valley northwest of Lake Perris.

The two were taken to Riverside County Regional Medical Center, where Tiana was declared dead.

Her father's condition was listed only as stable.

LeShawn Cook, a relative of the victims, tells the Riverside Press-Enterprise she was hosting the family gathering celebrating her daughter's departure to college when the gunfire broke out.

The NYPD says they have identified the suspects for the major security breach that had white flags replace the American flags at the Brooklyn Bridge, one of the most highly secured landmarks in New York City, according to the New York Post. Police say they only know the suspects by nicknames, not their legitimate names. They are working on getting their names in order to bring the suspects in for questioning. The Post says nearly three dozen detectives were on the case.
